A new set photo reveals what seems to be a Proton Cannon, Iron Man's classic weapon, which was previously teased by directors Joe and Anthony Russo.

AceShowbiz - The remaining Avengers may come fully prepared for another stand-off with Thanos in "Avengers 4". This new set photo is one of the proofs. The picture reveals a giant new weapon that will be used by Iron Man in the upcoming movie.

The image offers a closer look at what seems to be a Proton Cannon at the Avengers Headquarters Lab. The classic Iron Man weapon was first shown at the Avengers headquarters in the workshop with James Rhodes a.k.a. War Machine, but no one really paid attention to it until directors Joe and Anthony Russo recently teased it on Twitter.

The filmmaker duo posted a cryptic image of what appeared to be a glowing blue and white object to mark the end of "Avengers 4" reshoots. They simply captioned it with "#wrapped," prompting fans to speculate if the object is the movie version of the Proton Cannon.

Believing that the Russo brothers have spoiled the movie with the Twitter post, Mark Ruffalo used the chance to plead his case after he was believed to have let slip the movie's title. "This ... and you fired me for a measly slip of the title?" the actor wrote, to which the directors jokingly replied, "You're still fired, Mark."

Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Don Cheadle and Paul Rudd are expected to reprise their respective roles in the "Avengers: Infinity War" sequel, though no official cast lineup is announced yet. Plot details have also been kept under wraps.

The movie is scheduled to open in U.S. theaters on May 3, 2019. The first trailer may be coming soon, as Twitter user @ImAFilmEditor tweeted on Tuesday, October 16, "Teaser... IMAX... DMR... #Avengers4."
