Should the former lovebirds really get back together, they reportedly will make their relationship their top priority.

AceShowbiz - New details about Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson's split have surfaced. It has been reported that Ariana was the one to call it quits because she realized "this wasn't the right time for them." According to Entertainment Tonight, Pete is understandably heartbroken over this, but know that this is the best for them.

Despite that, they are allegedly still deeply in love with each other and not ruling out any possibility of getting back together. "They have a very special connection, partly because Pete has been there for Ariana during a painful time in her life. She will forever and always be grateful to Pete," a source tells the news outlet. "They felt constantly under a microscope. They felt that they literally had no privacy and it really took a toll on their relationship."

A second insider adds that the former couple hasn't stopped talking since they made the decision to break up, with Ariana spotted looking affectionate with Pete on "Saturday Night Live" set. "They are remaining positive and looking forward to a future together where they may be best friends and still haven't ruled out the possibilities of one day making their relationship work," the source explains.

"They just know that they cannot be engaged right now or be in a serious relationship because of the stress Ariana has had to face recently and the stress of their career," the insider continues, adding that their busy career is among the reason why they choose to take some time apart. But should they really reconcile, they will make their relationship their top priority.

The source goes on saying, "They both want a family one day and realize they will have to step back a bit from their careers to do that. They love and trust each other so much and want to keep the option open for a further together."

Another insider similarly shares to E! News that the pair still have high hopes that they can work things out and reunite. "Pete has really been there for Ariana," the source says. "And she will always have a special place in her heart for him, but told him that right now is not the best time."

News of them calling off their engagement first broke on Sunday, October 14. One day after the report, Frankie Grande appeared to weigh on the split by sharing an Instagram video dedicated to her sister. "Good morning to my beautiful, beautiful sister. I love you so much and you're with me right now in Iceland," he said as her "Breathin" played in the background. "You know you got to keep - keep on breathin'. That's true!"
