Netflix Cancels 'Marvel's Iron Fist', But 'The Story Is Never Over'

The disheartening news arrives just a week before 'Daredevil' returns for its third season on the streaming giant.

AceShowbiz - There will be no more "Marvel's Iron Fist". Netflix has announced that it has decided to pull the plug on the Marvel series after running for two seasons on the streaming giant.

" 'Marvel's Iron Fist' will not return for a third season on Netflix. Everyone at Marvel Television and Netflix is proud of the series and grateful for all of the hard work from our incredible cast, crew and showrunners," Disney-owned comic giant and the streamer said in a joint statement on Friday, October 12.

"We're thankful to the fans who have watched these two seasons, and for the partnership we've shared on this series," the statement continud. "While the series on Netflix has ended, the immortal Iron Fist will live on."

The official Twitter account of the show also echoes the statement. "The story is never over," it declares.

The disheartening news arrives just a week before "Daredevil" returns for its third season. It allows fans to breathe a sigh of relieve as it seems that Netflix and Marvel's partnership is still going strong.

Prior to this, Marvel Television head Jeph Loeb sound pretty much optimistic when asked about the potential of a season 3 for "Marvel's Iron Fist". "Speak to our friends at Netflix. Unlike the movie studio, which can announce a Captain Marvel movie will be out in 2019, the television studio will always be beholden to our networks, and so if our networks want another season of 'Iron Fist', we're ready to go," he said at that time. "We're just waiting for the answer. The show's been out of a week."
