Introducing the band’s hit song as part of their encore act at Detroit concert, frontman Adam Levine dubs the late soul queen 'greatest ever' before adding, 'Everybody else looks stupid.'

AceShowbiz - Maroon 5 dedicated their hit "She Will Be Loved" to soul queen Aretha Franklin during a concert in her adopted Detroit, Michigan on Sunday night, September 30.

Frontman Adam Levine paid tribute to the late star as he introduced the track as part of the group's encore at the Little Caesars Arena.

"I'm sure this city's heard a lot of this, but... Aretha Franklin, baby! We love you. We miss you. We thank you for everything. Greatest ever... Everybody else looks stupid, that's how great she was."

Franklin lost her battle with cancer on 16 August, aged 76.

She will next be officially honoured at the American Music Awards on 9 October in Los Angeles as part of a star-studded tribute, led by her pal Gladys Knight, and Aretha will also be the subject of a planned all-star concert at Madison Square Garden in New York City next month.
