The 'Get Out' director is reportedly in talks to remake the 1992 slasher film based on Clive Barker's short story 'The Forbidden'.

AceShowbiz - Following the success of his first directorial debut "Get Out", Jordan Peele is reportedly eying another horror film as his next big-screen project. The actor/comedian is in talks to remake Bernard Rose-directed slasher movie "Candyman", Bloody Disgusting reports.
The former "Key & Peele" star is reportedly circling the possible new adaptation of Clive Barker's "Books of Blood" short story "The Forbidden" as producer. Should the project go through, he will produce through his Monkeypaw Productions. There's no word if he plans to direct or star in the potential remake.
The first Candyman movie was released in 1992, written and directed by Bernard Rose. The story follows Helen Lyle (Virginia Madsen), a Chicago graduate student who is researching urban legend about the Candyman for her thesis. She learns that Candyman (Tony Todd) is an artist and son of a slave who had his hand severed and was then murdered with bees by his lover's father.
The movie earned relatively positive reviews and grossed over $25 million. It spawned two sequels, "Candyman: Farewell to the Flesh" (1995) and "Candyman: Day of the Dead" (1999), but neither of them performed critically and commercially as well as the first movie.
The franchise has since been dormant, but Rose, who directed the original movie, once expressed his interest in directing a "proper" sequel to the film with Virginia Madsen back as Helen.
Peele himself has had his own success with mystery thriller "Get Out" (2017) which he wrote and directed. The movie starring Daniel Kaluuya received critical acclaims, with critics praising its screenplay, direction, performances and satirical themes. It earned multiple award nominations and won an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay.
The 39-year-old actor/director has been attached to another social thriller, "Us", as writer and director. Production on the movie is currently underway, with Winston Duke, Lupita Nyong'o, Elisabeth Moss, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and others on board as cast members. The movie is set for a March 15, 2019 released in the United States.
