Karen's post comes after Mac's ex-girlfriend Ariana Grande also shared a caption-less photo tribute to the musician.

Nomi Leasure is another of Mac's exes, and dated the star from when they were in high school up until 2016. They met up again in recent months, and Nomi had recalled the occasion in a piece of prose penned for Peek magazine just days before his death.

Captioning a photo of the piece on her Instagram page, Nomi wrote: "Wrote this nearly a week ago, about a person who forever changed my life. Full story at peek-mag.com but in truth, no one could ever really know."

"So grateful we had our final moment. Our clarity, cleaning of the air. You changed my life. I, yours. The residual effects of your passion ripple on. You are not gone. Not in the least."

While the circumstances surrounding Mac's death have yet to be officially confirmed, multiple sources have reported it was due to a heart attack following an overdose.

Backstreet Boys star A.J. McLean, a former addict who has been in recovery for the past 18 years, told TMZ.com he's working on changing things for others trying to kick their own addictions.

"I'm getting involved with a company to create an at home, non-narcotic opiate detox kit because that's another huge killer right now - is opiates," he said. "And unfortunately the drugs that they use to get you to kick opiates people get hooked on. So ours is non-narcotic, at home, so you can be with your family and wean yourself off opiates."
