AceShowbiz - Donald Glover has announced his collaboration with Adidas Originals via an animated video.
On Wednesday, September 05, the superstar confirmed he will be joining the German sportswear giant as a brand co-creator by uploading an animated video showing him swapping his sneakers for a box-fresh pair of the label's footwear.
The clip was created by Ivan Dixon and Greg Sharp, who also worked on the imagery for "Feels Like Summer", which shows a cartoon version of Donald - as his alter ego Childish Gambino - strolling through a neighbourhood populated with famous faces.
"I believe it's important not to feel like ideas are bound by specific guidelines and Adidas Originals has given me the opportunity to create on my own terms," the "Atlanta" actor said in a statement, according to website Hip Hop Wired. "I'm looking forward to seeing what that leads to."
A representative for Adidas Originals also posted the video, which was directed by Glover, on social media, welcoming the multi-hyphenate performer to their roster.
"A collaboration without boundaries, welcome to the family Donald Glover," a post on Instagram was captioned.
Glover's collection will reportedly include sneakers and apparel, though he's also expected to oversee creative projects.
In "Feels Like Summer", Glover controversially took aim at pop culture figures including Nicki Minaj and Travis Scott - who were recently embroiled in a controversy over who earned the Billboard No. 1 album - with the duo seen playing with children's building blocks. While a tearful Kanye West, depicted wearing a "Make America Great Again" cap, was shown to be receiving a hug from former U.S First Lady Michelle Obama.
