AceShowbiz - William Shatner is still unsure what caused his rift with his late "Star Trek" co-star and friend Leonard Nimoy shortly before his 2015 death.
The actors first met while filming a 1964 episode of TV hit "The Man From U.N.C.L.E.", and they reconnected two years later when they were both cast in the original "Star Trek" drama series.
The stars famously endured a rocky relationship early on in their careers, but they later grew close and became good pals as they teamed up for appearances at "Star Trek" fan conventions around the world.
However, the two men reportedly fell out again after Nimoy, who portrayed Mr. Spock, accused Shatner of filming him without permission for his 2011 documentary "The Captains", for which he interviewed the captains of the sci-fi franchise's Starship Enterprise.
In his new memoir "Live Long And... What I Learned Along the Way", Shatner reveals he still struggles with the sadness over the abrupt end of their friendship.
"Until the day I die, I will still wonder what caused that rift," he writes, according to the New York Daily News. "After all the years we had spent together, after the bond we had forged, what could I have done that was so irreparable that he couldn't even talk to me about it?"

In 2016, Shatner opened up about the rift, explaining he thought Nimoy was initially joking over his refusal to take part in the documentary.
"I thought (Leonard) was joking at first and treated it as a joke because he sometimes would pretend and say, 'No, I'm not going to do that,' and then say, 'Yes,' so that's what I thought he did," Shatner told The Hollywood Reporter. "But that time he really meant, no... I just don't know, and it is sad and it is permanent. I don't know why he stopped talking to me."
