AceShowbiz - Patricia Heaton and Donnie Wahlberg have come to the defence of former "The Cosby Show" star Geoffrey Owens after he was recently spotted working at a U.S. grocery store.

The actor was seen bagging groceries at a Trader Joe's in New Jersey last month, prompting a customer to take to social media to express her shock at Owens' new career path.

"I was just in Trader Joe's and I said to my wife, I said, 'Wait a minute, that's the guy from The Cosby Show'," Karma Lawrence told the Daily Mail. "She looked at him and said, 'It looks like him. He's a little heavier.' I pulled up a site on the internet to look at a picture of him and said, 'That is him.' I have never seen him at Trader Joe's before. I was getting a bunch of groceries and he wasn't really looking at anybody, but he said, 'Have a nice day'."

"I used to watch The Cosby Show all the time; it was my favorite show. It was definitely him," she added. "I would have thought after 'The Cosby Show' he would maybe be doing something different. It was a shock to see him working there and looking the way he did. It made me feel really bad. I was like, 'Wow, all those years of doing the show and you ended up as a cashier.' Other fans would be surprised for sure as well."

While Lawrence was surprised to see Owens in his current job, many celebrities have come to his defence and shared stories about their own odd side jobs while trying to make a living onscreen.

"Again, why is this news?," Patricia Heaton posts on Twitter. "When I worked on 'Thirtysomething' I was also summarizing depositions to pay my rent. Why are you trying to humiliate this honorable, hardworking actor? Shame on you! #geoffreyowens - many great blessings are coming your way!"

"I don't know #GeoffreyOwens," Wahlberg adds. "I know this - Almost every successful actor, singer, athlete or celebrity, is one lucky (unlucky) break away from bagging groceries themselves. Few would admit it. Fewer humble enough to do it."
