The planned reboot will be Kenya Barris' final project with ABC Studios after he recently signed a three-year agreement with Netflix.

AceShowbiz - "Bewitched" is the latest classic TV series which gets a reboot treatment. ABC is reportedly developing a pilot of a new reboot of the sitcom from "Black-ish" creator Kenya Barris.

The planned reboot will be Barris' final project with ABC Studios after he recently signed a three-year agreement with an option for two more additional years at Netflix which worths $100 million. The high-profile producer will also write and executive produce the project with Yamara Taylor. Joining them as non-writing executive producers are John Davis and John Fox of Davis Entertainment.

The new take on "Bewitched" is set to be based on the original 1960s sitcom. However, the new iteration will offer something new as it will focus on an interracial blended family.

The synopsis of the planned reboot reads, "Samantha, a hardworking black single mom who happens to be a witch, marries Darren, a white mortal who happens to be a bit of a slacker. They struggle to navigate their differences as she discovers that even when a black girl is literally magic, she’s still not as powerful as a decently tall white man with a full head of hair in America."

ABC's "Bewitched" reboot marks the latest attempt to revive the show. Prior to this, CBS developed a remake of the series in 2011-2012 but that fell through. It was followed by ABC who tried to make a sequel. The series was also brought to big screen with a 2005 movie "Bewitched" that starred Nicole Kidman and Will Ferrell.

Created by Sol Saks and executive produced by Harry Ackerman, the original "Bewitched" ran for eight seasons on ABC from 1964 to 1972. It starred Elizabeth Montgomery as Samantha, a witch married to an ordinary mortal man, Darrin, and chronicles the way her powers and wicked family get in the way of her efforts to live a normal, magic-free life as a typical suburban housewife. In 1977, the network aired a short-lived spin-off centering on Samantha's daughter Tabitha (Lisa Hartman).
