The network makes the announcement at the 2018 Video Music Awards, where 'The Hills' cast members Spencer Pratt, Heidi Montag, Audrina Patridge and Justin Bobby reunite.

AceShowbiz - "The Hills" cast just reunited at the 2018 MTV Video Music Awards, but it turns out there's more that MTV has planned for them. The network announced at the awards show that "The Hills" reboot is coming in 2019.

A short teaser played during a commercial break features an acoustic version of "Unwritten", Natasha Bedingfield's song that served as the original "Hills" theme song, and reveals the revived show's title "The Hills: New Beginnings". It will feature the original cast members, including Audrina Patridge, Spencer Pratt, Heidi Montag and Justin Bobby who attended the MTV VMAs, as well as Whitney Port and Spencer's little sister Stephanie Pratt.

"It's like we're all growing up. It's weird," Stephanie can be heard saying in the teaser. The reboot will also feature the cast members' children and friends, and follow their personal and professional lives while living in Los Angeles.

Justin Brescia, Frankie Delgado, Ashley Wahler, Jason Wahler and Gunner Pratt also showed up at the VMAs which was held on Monday, August 20, so it's pretty much confirmed that they will appear on the reboot as well.

As for Lauren Conrad, she likely won't return for "The Hills" reboot, and neither will Kristin Cavallari. Lauren is now a happily married mom who runs a successful lifestyle brand, while Kristin has her own reality show on E!, "Very Cavallari".

The original "The Hills" was a spin-off of "Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County" and followed Lauren Conrad as she pursued a career in the fashion industry. It subsequently showed her housemate Heidi Montag and their friends Audrina Patridge and Whitney Port, and continued to expand to include other people in their circle. It aired on MTV from 2006 until 2010.

"The Hills" reboot announcement comes after MTV revived its other popular reality series "Jersey Shore". Bringing back its original stars with the exception of Sammi Giancola, "Jersey Shore: Family Vacation" premiered on April 5 and is set to return for a second season on August 23.
