AceShowbiz - Prepare yourself, the robot revolution has begun. Tony Kaye takes his next project "2nd Born" to a new level by casting an actual robot as the lead actor instead of a human. According to Deadline, the idea of tapping an artificial intelligence as the lead actor came from Kaye himself and producer Sam Khoze.

Ditching computer-generated imagery, the "American History X" director will train the robot actor to act with a variety of acting methods and techniques. Kaye also hopes his new concept of filmmaking will be noticed by Screen Actors Guild for awards consideration.

"2nd Born" will be a sequel to Ali Atshani's upcoming indie comedy "1st Born", which is the first American-Iranian co-production. The first installment stars Val Kilmer, Denise Richards, Tom Berenger, Greg Grunberg, Jay Abdo, Taylor Cole, Reza Sixo Safai, William Baldwin and Robert Knepper.

"1st Born" follows a young married couple, Iranian Ben, who is portrayed by Safai, and American Kate, played by Cole. Their families, who have different cultures, are forced to team up to help the couple's complicated first pregnancy.

Produced by LA Independent Film & Entertainment L.I.F.E., the first installment is set to be released this year.

In addition to Kaye's upcoming project, the 66-year-old filmmaker is known for his works on Johnny Cash and Red Hot Chili Peppers' music videos. "I worked with Rick Rubin...I did a Johnny Cash video that he won a Grammy for and I did a Red Hot Chili Peppers for 'Dani California' that we also won a million things with," he said in an interview with The Drum.

Besides music videos and films, Kaye's other credits include a documentary entitled "Lake of Fire", which exposed abortions in the United States. The black-and-white documentary was written, directed and produced by Kaye and it received positive reviews from critics.
