AceShowbiz - Paramount Pictures has released a first-look photo for its upcoming movie "Dora the Explorer". "Sicario: Day of the Soldado" actress Isabela Moner, who will portray Dora in the live-action film, appears in the character's full costume in the photo.

The first-look photo features Moner wearing the titular character's signature pink T-shirt, tangerine shorts, yellow socks and sneakers. Carrying a purple backpack, the former "100 Things to Do Before High School" star sports short brunette hair as she smiles at the camera.

The 17-year-old actress proudly reposted the photo on her Instagram account and expressed her excitement. "So excited to show you the First Look of me as #DoraTheExplorer," Moner wrote in the caption.

Moner previously revealed that Dora was her "icon" in an interview with Screen Rant. "I watched Dora growing up. I'm bilingual and she's like my icon," she told the site and laughed. "I read the script and I knew it was, I wasn't really sure I was fully going to do it. But when I read the script, it was so funny. And I think it captured everything that the audience would have wanted to see from that childhood star obviously."

Apparently, the film, which also stars Micke Moreno as Dora's cousin Diego and Academy Award nominee Adriana Barraza as Dora's grandmother Abuela Valerie, will be different from its animated series as Dora is depicted as a teenager instead of a seven-year-old girl.

The official synopsis for the live-action adaptation reads, "Having spent most of her life exploring the jungle with her parents nothing could prepare Dora for the most dangerous adventure ever, high school. Always the explorer, Dora quickly finds herself leading Boots (her best friend, a monkey), Diego, and a rag tag group of teens on a live-action adventure to save her parents and solve the impossible mystery behind a lost Inca civilization."

Based on Nickelodeon's animated series, "Dora the Explorer" is helmed by BAFTA nominee James Bobin, who is known for his works on "The Muppets" and "Alice Through the Looking Glass". "Christopher Robin" producer Kristin Burr is producing the project and she will be joined by executive producers John G. Scotti, Julia Pistor and Eugenio Derbez.

"Dora the Explorer" will explore U.S. theaters on August 2, 2019.
