The 'Clueless' alum, who stars on 'American Woman' inspired by the reality TV star's childhood, expected Kyle to be a man at their first meeting.

AceShowbiz - Alicia Silverstone was expecting reality star Kyle Richards to be a man at their first meeting.

The 41-year-old portrays single mother Bonnie Nolan in the Paramount Network series "American Woman", which was inspired by the actress and "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" castmember's childhood in 1970s Los Angeles.

While Alicia was excited to take on the role, she was pretty confused when she first met the 49-year-old as she didn't realise Kyle could be a unisex name.

"I went to my meeting with the producers and the director and the creator, John Riggi. And then I'm sitting in the room going, 'Where's that guy, Kyle? I know I'm supposed to meet a producer named Kyle and he's a guy - Kyle's a guy name,'" she recalled during an appearance on "Late Night with Seth Meyers" on Monday night (August 6). "And I soon realised that Kyle was not a man, and that Kyle was Kyle Richards as she was talking. I don't know how it was revealed to me but it became clear to me that she was the one. She's great."

"American Woman", which also features Mena Suvari and Makenna James, premiered in the U.S. in June.
