The magazine's editor-in-chief claims that he knew it had to be Rihanna who would grace the cover for September issue.

AceShowbiz - British Vogue has chosen Rihanna to be the first black woman to grace its September issue's cover. The "We Found Love" songstress was photographed by Nick Knight in a vintage flowery theme as she wore outfits from famous designers and makeup from her own cosmetics line Fenty Beauty.
In the photo, which was shared on British Vogue's official Instagram account, Rihanna looked stunning and stylish with her thin drawn-on eyebrows and glossy maroon lips. RiRi's raven hair was coiffed into a sleek bun and it was covered with many kinds of colorful flowers. The floral headpiece was designed by artist Makoto Azuma. As for the dress, she donned a sheer black dress with a pink tulle bow and a pair of orange gloves by Prada. Besides wearing an orange eyeshadow shade from her own cosmetics line, the "Ocean's 8" star wore a lace bodysuit by her lingerie line Savage X Fenty.

Vogue's editor-in-chief Edward Enninful, who arranged the style for the cover, claimed that he knew the cosmetics and fashion mogul would be perfect for the September issue's cover. "As for the cover? I always knew it had to be Rihanna," Edward wrote on his editor's letter. "A fearless music-industry icon and businesswoman, when it comes to that potent mix of fashion and celebrity, nobody does it quite like her."
"No matter how haute the styling goes, or experimental the mood, you never lose her in the imagery. She is always Rihanna," he added. "There's a lesson for us all in that. Whichever way you choose to dress the new season, take a leaf out of her book and be yourself."
The British magazine also shared a teaser video on its official Instagram account. The video saw Rihanna excitedly talking to Edward prior to the photo shoot. "It's always a collaboration with you, that's what I love," the editor said. "Every time I get to work with you I feel like...it's wonderful but definitely for British Vogue..," the "Umbrella" songstress replied. "I know it's my first September issue," Edward told her.
The magazine's September issue, which is entitled "Big Fashion Issue", is set to hit the shelves on August 3.
