LeBron James will be executive producing the eight-episode series with Nicole Asher providing the script.

AceShowbiz - Actress Octavia Spencer's forthcoming TV drama about America's first black millionaire has been picked up for a limited series at Netflix.

The "Hidden Figures" star previously signed on to head back in time for a movie, playing Sarah Breedlove, famously known as "Madam C.J. Walker", who built a beauty empire after discovering a groundbreaking new haircare formula for black women.

It was subsequently reworked as an episodic drama, with basketball ace LeBron James boarding the project as an executive producer for his SpringHill Entertainment banner, alongside his company co-founder Maverick Carter, Spencer, series writer Nicole Asher, and pilot director Kasi Lemmons.

Now it's officially been picked up by executives at streaming service Netflix for an eight-episode series, reports Deadline.com.

The show is based on the 2002 book "On Her Own Ground" by author A'Lelia Bundles.
