AceShowbiz - The man accused of swiping Frances McDormand's Oscar statuette in March has been ordered to stand trial for felony grand theft.

Terry Bryant allegedly nabbed the Best Actress prize McDormand had won for her performance in Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri at the Los Angeles ceremony's afterparty, the Governors Ball.

He was prevented from leaving the bash with the trophy by a security guard who was tipped off by a photographer, after reportedly overhearing Bryant boasting about his bogus Academy Awards win. The snapper is also said to have taken a picture of the offender, which was allegedly used to identify Bryant.

The suspect subsequently pleaded not guilty to a charge of grand theft of property, and on Wednesday, July 25, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Mark Hanasono ruled there was sufficient evidence for the case to go to trial.

Bryant will be arraigned in court on 8 August.
