AceShowbiz - Amber Tamblyn has joined the cast of new TV drama Y two weeks after complaining she has been "boxed out" of some roles because she doesn't look a certain way.

The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants star joins Diane Lane, Barry Keoghan, Imogen Poots, and Marin Ireland, among others, in the adaptation of the DC Comics series, Y: The Last Man, by Brian K. Vaughan and Pia Guerra.

Tamblyn will play Mariette Callows, the daughter of the President of the United States in the TV series.

Y: The Last Man is a 60-issue science fiction comic book series first published in 2002.

The casting is great news for Amber, who recently sat down fwith The New York Times for a discussion about the poor treatment of women in Hollywood.

Tamblyn noted her look has often kept her from choice roles in Hollywood.

She explained, "There were always different forms of being shut out of conversations or being boxed out of different places, in which I know my voice should exist, or being told, under certain circumstances, I had to look a certain way or I was going to fail."
