Styler and executives at Maven Pictures have optioned the rights to the biography of Winston Churchill's wife, written by the couple's youngest child.

AceShowbiz - Sting's producer wife Trudie Styler has recruited Emmy-winning screenwriter Mary Nagle to turn Mary Soames' book about her mother, Clementine Churchill, into a new movie.

Styler and executives at Maven Pictures have optioned the rights to the biography of Winston Churchill's wife, written by the couple's youngest child, and now Nagle, who adapted the 2005 TV movie Warm Springs about U.S. leader Franklin D. Roosevelt and his wife Eleanor, has signed on to write the screenplay, according to Deadline.

Soames' book about her mother, who was played by Kristin Scott Thomas in last year's (17) Darkest Hour, was published in 1979 and detailed her mother's crucial role in her father's political career.

Winston Churchill often credited his wife's support for helping him and England win World War Two.

After the conflict, Clementine was appointed Dame Grand Cross of the Order of the British Empire.

Announcing the film news on Friday, July 13, Styler says, "We see this as a film showing audiences an extraordinary woman whose strength and resilience played a major role in the shaping of a nation. It is also a movie about a marriage, and a couple who loved each other, respected each other, fought alongside one another - a couple we can all relate and aspire to, even living in the public eye.

"We feel Nagle is the perfect writer, with her ability to turn history into drama, to adapt this complex story and to bring Clementine to life onscreen."

Nagle's other film credits include Reese Witherspoon's The Good Lie. She was also a writer-producer on TV drama Boardwalk Empire.
