AceShowbiz - More actors are going to be haunted by the demon clown Pennywise after the grown-up version of Losers Club has assembled. Xavier Dolan and Will Beinbrink have just been added to the cast of New Line Cinema's "It: Chapter 2", according to Deadline.
Dolan will be playing Adrian Mellon. In Stephen King's original novel, Mellon is a gay man who is harassed by the homophobic townsfolk of Derry and ultimately meets face-to-face with Pennywise. Meanwhile, Beinbrink will play Tom Rogan, the abusive husband of the adult Beverly Marsh.
The two actors join a cast that includes the adult members of the Losers Club, with Jessica Chastain playing Beverly Marsh, James McAvoy as Bill Denbrough, Jay Ryan as Ben Hanscom, Isaiah Mustafa as Mike Hanlon, Bill Hader as Richie Tozier, Andy Bean as Stanely Uris and James Ransone as Eddie Kaspbrak. Bill Skarsgard will return as the shapeshifting clown Pennywise. The original cast, including Finn Wolfhard and Sophia Lillis, are expected to return for the sequel in flashback scenes.
Andy Muschietti is back as the director, with Gary Dauberman writing the script once again. Barbara Muschietti, Dan Lin and Roy Lee are producing, while Seth Grahame-Smith and David Katzenberg are set to serve as executive producers.
Filming for the sequel of "It" officially kicked off this week. McAvoy posted on Instagram a picture of him holding a block of cheese to mark the occasion. "Day 1 on IT 2. Glad you got the memo guys," the "Split" actor wrote in the caption.
Plot details of the movie are currently unknown, but Muschietti previously said that the kid elements in the next movie wouldn't just be brief throwbacks. "They're a very big part of the action," he said. "On the second movie, that dialogue between timelines will be more present. If we're telling the story of adults, we are going to have flashbacks that take us back to the '80s and inform the story in the present day."
"It: Chapter 2" is slated for a September 6, 2019 release in the United States.
