'An Evening With Ellen DeGeneres' will also be taped for an upcoming Netflix special.

AceShowbiz - U.S. TV personality and Finding Dory star Ellen DeGeneres is set to return to the stand-up comedy circuit for the first time in 15 years.

The comedienne will perform a limited run of shows in August, visiting three cities - San Diego, San Francisco, and Seattle - over the course of eight nights.

An Evening With Ellen DeGeneres will also be taped for an upcoming Netflix special.

The 60 year old announced her collaboration with bosses at the streaming service last month.

"Earlier this week, I got a tweet from the people at Netflix and I have good news and bad news," DeGeneres said during a recent taping of her hit daytime programme The Ellen DeGeneres Show. "The bad news is they wouldn't tell me what happened to Barb on Stranger Things, but the good news is they asked if I was interested in doing a stand-up special.

"I said I'm going to have to think about it and then 30 seconds later I said yes. Exciting!".

"I'm excited for you to see it," she added.

Ellen is preparing for her return to the stage on vacation in Africa, where she is visiting the mountain gorilla sanctuary she is funding through the newly-created Ellen DeGeneres Wildlife Fund, which was a 60th birthday gift from her wife Portia de Rossi.
