AceShowbiz - The prosecutors in Meek Mill's original drug case are seeking a new trial for the rapper.

The "Dreams and Nightmares" hitmaker spent five months in prison before his release in April, after lawmakers in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania overturned a judge's decision to keep him locked up for violating his probation, linked to a 2008 drug and gun bust.

His punishment was widely considered overly harsh and Judge Genece Brinkley was accused of waging a personal vendetta against him.

Meek's lawyers have been working to remove Judge Brinkley from the case and vacate the original conviction, claiming the arresting officer has been named as part of a local police corruption scandal, and now they have the support of prosecutors.

"In light of recent disclosures regarding this officer's misconduct, the Commonwealth is not able to stand behind the credibility of his trial testimony at this time," a document obtained by TMZ reads. "Accordingly, the Commonwealth concedes that a new trial is necessary."

According to the website, there will be a hearing on Wednesday, May 30, to determine if Judge Brinkley should be removed from the case, and the next hearing will take place in June, when it will be determined if the drug and weapons case should be thrown out.

Meanwhile, Meek, real name Robert Williams, has been focusing on speaking out about the prison system in the U.S. and helping to find ways to reform it since his release. He recently turned down the chance to meet with President Donald Trump, insisting the circus surrounding the summit would detract from his important message.
