'There was something wrapped up in that word that used to make me uncomfortable, but I'm marginally more comfortable with it now,' he says of being a songwriter in a new interview.

AceShowbiz - Alex Turner is finally comfortable with being a songwriter after 14 years as the frontman of rockers Arctic Monkeys. The British band has released their sixth album, "Tranquility Base Hotel + Casino", and in a new interview with Pitchfork, the 32-year-old was asked if he was more comfortable with the role of penning the band's tracks.

"Certainly more so than when I was 18," he replied. "There was something wrapped up in that word that used to make me uncomfortable, but I'm marginally more comfortable with it now." He also discussed the album's track "Golden Trunks", in which he croons that Donald Trump reminds him "of a wrestler wearing tight golden trunks."

"Yeah, as soon as you say those words, it rather steals the show," Turner explained. "But I was almost attracted to how cumbersome the phrase 'the leader of the free world' is, especially now. There are some things that are really hard to get to work phonetically, but the tune somehow allows it... it's suddenly amusing. It's kind of Disney, that melody."

The rocker also revealed in an interview with Beats 1's Zane Lowe that he had "tricked" himself out of writer's block to create the band's sixth album. "There was a time (when) I'd probably sit on my bed in my mum's house, strumming an acoustic guitar," he said. "Like that first record (Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not), I can't remember how long it took but it seems like it could have just come out in a week. I didn't have to find ways to make myself finish an idea (back then)."

"And now it seems like I do, and the job is to find a way of tricking myself into having an idea, I suppose, and following it through," he added.
