AceShowbiz - As comic book superheroes are busy saving the world from supervillains and aliens, there's a masked vigilante who is fighting against injustice in England. Lionsgate Movies has released the first trailer for its new take on English folklore "Robin Hood (2018)", with "Kingsman: The Golden Circle" actor Taron Egerton assuming the mantle.
"You're not curious who's under the hood?" asks Jamie Dornan's Will Scarlet, a member of Merry Men, as the legendary outlaw steals from the rich and gives to the poor. Depicted as a nobleman, Robin of Loxley is a crusader who seeks to spark a revolt against the corrupt royalty.
With the guidance from his Moorish commander (Jamie Foxx), he endures physical training and begins using his signature bow and arrow to become the legendary outlaw he's known today. "You are a crusader. Now you have to be a warrior. You wanted to steal? Now is your time," says Foxx's Little John.
A rising hero among the commoners, he raises the anxiety of the government. The video hints at a gritty take on the origin story of Robin Hood, without leaving out Robin's romantic quest with Maid Marion (Eve Hewson), who is also Will Scarlet's wife, in between the action scenes.
According to the official synopsis, in the film Robin of Loxley, a war-hardened Crusader, and his Moorish commander mount an audacious revolt against the corrupt English crown in a thrilling action-adventure packed with gritty battlefield exploits, mind-blowing fight choreography, and a timeless romance.
Tim Minchin stars as Friar Tuck, Ben Mendelsohn plays the Sheriff of Nottingham and Hood's enemy, Paul Anderson portrays Guy of Gisborne, Josh Herdman is Righteous, and Bjorn Bengtsson stars as Tydon. Otto Bathurst directs the movie which script was penned by Joby Harold. Leonardo DiCaprio serves as producer along with Jennifer Davisson, Tory Tunnell and Joby Harold.
The adventure film is set for theatrical release on November 21 in the United States.
