The famous author writes on Twitter, 'This year, I apologise for killing someone who didn't die during the BattleofHogwarts, but who laid down his life to save the people who'd win it.'

AceShowbiz - Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling has apologised to fans for killing off house elf Dobby in the boy wizard books. The writer has made it a tradition to check in with Potter devotees annually on the anniversary of the Battle of Hogwarts and say sorry for killing off characters. On Wednesday, May 2, she turned her attention to Dobby.

"It's that anniversary again," Rowling wrote on Twitter. "This year, I apologise for killing someone who didn't die during the #BattleofHogwarts, but who laid down his life to save the people who'd win it. I refer, of course, to Dobby the house elf."

The house elf was killed by Bellatrix Lestrange while trying to save Harry Potter in "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows".

The author has previously apologized to fans for the deaths of Severus Snape, Fred Weasley and Remus Lupin.
