AceShowbiz - The "Harry Potter" franchise is iconic, touching the lives of millions through its books, films, and even theme parks. However, recent years have seen increasing tensions between author J.K. Rowling and various members of the "Harry Potter cast".
This drama stems mainly from Rowling's controversial views on the transgender community, which some fans and actors have openly condemned.
These frictions were further fuelled by one of Rowling's latest comments on Twitter. Replying to a question, "What actor/actress instantly ruins a movie for you?", she wrote, "Three guesses. Sorry, but that was irresistible. [laugh emojis]."
While she did not explicitly name anyone, many speculate she was referring to the lead actors in the "Harry Potter" movies, Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint - all of whom have publicly opposed her viewpoints on transgender issues. "Shots fired," some remarked in response to Rowling's cryptic message.
Eddie Redmayne, a key figure in the spin-off "Fantastic Beasts" series, also opposed Rowling's views.
Warner Bros., on the other hand, seems committed to continuing its relationship with Rowling by working on a Harry Potter TV series. The trio of Harry, Hermione, and Ron haven't been cast, but John Lithgow is attached to play Albus Dumbledore while Janet McTeer and Paapa Essiedu are rumored to portray Professor Minerva McGonagall and Severus Snape.
