The 'Avengers: Infinity War' star says she and other actresses are up for a movie showcasing the female characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

AceShowbiz - "Avengers: Infinity War" star Karen Gillan wants to direct an all-female Marvel superhero movie. The Scottish actress, who plays the supervillain Nebula in the new comic book blockbuster, premiered her directorial debut "The Party's Just Beginning" at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York on Sunday, April 22, and in a new interview with the HuffPost website, the 30-year-old responded positively when asked if she'd like to take the reins on a movie showcasing the female characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

"OK, I'll do it," Karen said. "Yeah, why not? Absolutely. I know all of the Marvel actresses talk about it and we're all for it (an all-female film). I don't know whether it will happen or not, but everybody's really up for it."

Disney bosses are set to release "Captain Marvel", the first MCU movie featuring a female protagonist, next year, with Brie Larson set to play the title character.

Karen also expressed her delight that "Doctor Who" will finally be a woman, fellow Brit Jodie Whittaker. "It's so representative of everything that's happening within the industry right now," the actress, who appeared as a Doctor Who assistant from 2010 until 2013, added. "It just makes me so happy because so many people have been sceptical as to whether a woman could play the Doctor, but it's like, 'How is that even still a question?' Of course a female could play that role, and I'm glad we get to see Jodie (Whittaker) do it."

Her new film, "The Party's Just Beginning", is a passion project set in her native Scotland. As well as directing, she stars as Liusaidh, a young woman struggling with the death of her best friend.
