AceShowbiz - Country couple Tim McGraw and Faith Hill are supporting Ed Sheeran in his plagiarism battle over a song he wrote for them. The singers insist they lawfully licensed the song "The Rest of Our Life", and deny claims it's a "note for note" rip-off of Jasmine Rae's "When I Found You", according to TMZ.

Sheeran, who is being sued by Sean Carey and Beau Golden, the songwriters behind the 2014 country tune, has already denied he copied the track. In filing their response to the suit, in which they support Sheeran, Tim and Faith have also added a caveat, insisting that if lawmakers rule their hit is similar to "When I Found You", they shouldn't be held responsible, because they are just the singers of the song.

Ed previously slammed the lawsuit with documents of his own, denying there's any similarity in the sound of the two songs. In the legal papers, obtained by TMZ, the "Shape of You" singer insisted "The Rest of Our Life" is an "originally and independently created musical composition."

Calling the claim from the songwriters baseless, he has urged the judge overseeing the matter to toss out the lawsuit.

But Sean and Beau are standing firm insisting, "The copying is, in many instances, verbatim, note-for-note copying of original elements of the Song, and is obvious to the ordinary observer."

Tim and Faith are not named as defendants in the $5 million damages and royalties lawsuit.
