AceShowbiz - Earlier this month, Steve Aoki unveiled a collaborative track with Daddy Yankee and Elvis Crespo called "Azukita". The 40-year-old DJ/record producer premiered the music video for the Spanish track on Monday night, February 26.
Directed by Tyler Dunning Evans, the visuals was filmed in Las Vegas and Miami. It begins with Aoki and Yankee putting on virtual reality gears, getting ready to start their game. "You'll be dead," Yankee tells Aoki, to which the latter responds, "You don't know, man. I've got a ninja skill."
The scene then changes to show what happens inside the game, with the two artists' selected players engaging themselves in a dance battle as the song plays in the background. "I'm your idol, your highest title, the number one/ I'm Puerto Rican, like Daddy none," Yankee raps. "Give me sugar, not bad faith/ Black father, white mother."
The end of the clip sees Yankee and Aoki telling each other that their battle was "a crazy game," calling it "dope."
"Azukita", which Aoki co-produced with Play-N-Skillz, is his first Spanish track. In an interview with E! News, Aoki revealed that both of them agreed to do a collaboration after Yankee told him via Facetime that he wanted to work with Aoki.
"So we went back and forth, between Play-N-Skillz and me and we found a beat that Yankee loved and he went back in the studio and finessed some vocals," Aoki shared to the webloid. "Elvis Crespo joined in and added some vocals because I was already talking to him about doing some songs too. So, there were a lot of different worlds aligning and it was all synchronicity. It's all about the timing on this one."
Aoki added that he wanted to make sure that the song had his signature beat and could be a track that he could play at music festivals. "I wanted it to feel and sound like a collaboration between Latin music and EDM," he continued. "You really get that sensibility throughout this whole song."
