It seems like Donald Trump's "State of the Union" speech has inspired one musician to make new music. After watching the speech, Chris Brown took to Instagram Stories to preview a new track, captioning it, "Can we get back to love and to the music?" The song, entitled "State of the Union", was then released on SoundCloud on Wednesday, January 31.

The newly-released track finds Chris singing about about his personal struggles and overcoming hurdles over the beats of Goapele's 2004 track "Closer". He rhymes over the gentle guitar strums, "Tired of running from the police/ Never f***ing over my homies/ Hope my n****s make it in one piece/ And my lane whipping in it one seat."

The song was well-liked by fans, with many praising the singer for his creativity and calling him a genius. A fan commented, "This song is amazing! Ur such a creative genius! It's what I love bout you." Another gushed, "This song brings me beautiful tears to my eyes and a beautiful vibe to me instantly."

"State of the Union" came just months after Chris released "Heartbreak on a Full Moon", an over-two-hour studio album with 45 tracks. The effort, which was released on October 31 last year, debuted at No. 3 on Billboard 200 chart with 68,000 units, marking Chris' ninth consecutive top 10 album on the chart. One month after the release, the album was certified gold by RIAA after selling more than 500,000 units.

Talking about the set, Chris revealed in an interview that he started working on it a few weeks before the release of his 2015 album "Royalty", adding that he thought that the album "was a depiction of what my soul wanted to say."

"It's funny because we're doing a double album," he said. "I've done so many records, but all of the records, to me, are personal favorites and I feel like it gets what I want to say across. It gives a vibe. You get nostalgia or you get a sense of individuality."
