It appears that Prince Harry's comment about the royals are the family which fiancee Meghan Markle "never had" doesn't only shock Meghan's half-sister Samantha Grant. A new report suggests that Meghan's father, Thomas Markle, isn't happy about the remarks.

Meghan's half-brother Thomas Markle Jr. tells Daily Mail that their father is "extremely hurt" over the comments. "She's had a really good family. We were as close as we could be, as tight as we could be, that's what we were," he says.

While Markle Jr. won't say that Harry's words are "upsetting," he admits they did seem to come out of the blue. "It was just a little shocking because Meghan had an amazing, amazing childhood growing up and she had a lot of family," he shares. "Especially at Christmas and the holidays, she had Christmas at my house, Christmas at her mom's house, my dad's house."

Markle Jr. goes on saying that they'd get together on "Christmases, on holidays, on birthdays, on Thanksgivings." He adds, "It was always somewhere, even though we lived in different parts of the city [Los Angeles]-we still all got together."

"So, as far as 'the family that she never had,' I don't really get that," he continues.

"Obviously, she had a family," he insists. "She was very privileged. She got everything she ever wanted. We did the best that we could in terms of getting together for holidays and whatnot."

As for their father, who is a retired lighting director, Markle Jr. reveals that "he dedicated the majority of all his time and everything to her. He made sure she had what she needed to be successful and get to where she's at today."

"My dad was the biggest anchor in everybody's lives and the holidays were really important to him," Markle Jr. adds.

Previously Samantha, Meghan's reportedly estranged half-sister, took to Twitter to weigh in on Harry's remarks during his BBC Radio 4 interview, in which he said, "She's done an absolutely amazing job. She's getting in there and it's the family I suppose that she's never had." Samantha tweeted, "Actually she has a large family who were always there with her and for her. Our household was very normal and when dad and Doria divorced, we all made it so it was like she had two houses. No one was estranged, she was just too busy." Samantha later advised everyone to read her tell-all book which is "complete with facts and photos."
