AceShowbiz - "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" stars %cKyle Richards% and %cMauricio Umansky% had an unpleasant ending of 2017. The couple's new home in Encino, Califoria, was burglarized on Wednesday, December 27.
The pair were not at home that time since a day before the incident, they traveled to Aspen, Colorado, for a family vacation with their kids, Sophia, Portia as well as Farrah, Kyle's 29-year-old daughter with ex-husband Guraish Aldjufrie. According to TMZ, over $1 million in jewelry and $150,000 worth of watches owned by Umansky were stolen from the house. It was unknown how the burglars nabbed the jewelry since it was in a lock box. The housekeeper reportedly was the one who discovered the break-in.
The house, which the couple bought in October for $8.2 million, had a security system, but it didn't work when the burglars entered. Police learned about the heist at around 1.15 A.M. because a closet sensor inside the home, which is currently under renovation, was triggered by the burglars.
Previously owned by Motown legend %cSmokey Robinson%, the home was backed up with several surveillance cameras. Police hoped that it would help them catch the burglars. CCTV footage is reportedly being investigated by the Los Angeles Police Department.
A family member told the site that the break-in might be an inside job since a number of people had access during the construction. Additionally, the culprits did not ransack the house as if they knew exactly where the jewelry would be.
48-year-old TV personality Richards took to her Instagram account on Wednesday to share a group photo taken during their holiday in Aspen. "So happy to be back in beautiful Aspen with loved ones," she captioned the happy snap featuring pretty trees with lights.
