The production of the sixth and final season of the hit political drama is suspended 'until further notice' following new sexual harassment allegation against the Oscar winner.

AceShowbiz - Netflix has decided to suspend the production of the sixth and final season of "House of Cards". The cast and crew of the hit political drama starring Kevin Spacey were reportedly told of the suspension this morning.

"MRC and Netflix have decided to suspend production on 'House of Cards' season six, until further notice, to give us time to review the current situation and to address any concerns of our cast and crew," said the two companies to Deadline in a joint statement.

After actor Anthony Rapp accused Spacey of molesting him when he was 14, director and actor Tony Montana just came forward with a similar story. According to Montana, the Oscar-winning actor "put his hand on my crotch forcefully and grabbed my whole package."

The news came just hours after the streaming giant and the production company announced that "House of Cards" would not go beyond season 6 following sexual misconduct allegation made by Rapp against the show's lead actor, Spacey. Show creator Beau Willimon stated on Monday, October 30, "Anthony Rapp's story is deeply troubling."

Rapp, now 46 years old, alleged that the 58-year-old Oscar-winning actor tried to seduce him. "I don't know if I would have used that language. But I was aware that he was trying to get with me sexually," the "Star Trek: Discovery" star said in an interview with BuzzFeed News.

Spacey responded to the allegation on Twitter, saying that he didn't remember the encounter, though he owed Rapp "the sincerest apology for what would have been deeply inappropriate drunken behaviour." The "American Beauty" star also came out as gay in the post.

Although season 6 will be the last season for "House of Cards", it reportedly will not be the end for the franchise. Multiple ideas for a potential spin-off are allegedly in early stages of development on the streaming platform and producer Media Rights Capital with one of the ideas having a spin-off revolving around Doug Stamper (played by Emmy nominee Michael Kelly).
