AceShowbiz - Linkin Park released on its Facebook page an episode of "Carpool Karaoke", three months after the death of vocalist Chester Bennington. Featuring comedian Ken Jeong, the video saw Bennington beaming while singing a slew of songs alongside fellow members Mike Shinoda and Joe Hahn.
"With the blessing of Chester's family and his bandmates, we share this episode, and dedicate it to the memory of Chester," a message read at the beginning of the video, which had been filmed six days before Bennington took his own life in July.
Before belting out Outkast's "Hey Ya!", Jeong expressed his excitement to join the band in the car ride. In the bittersweet video, the comedian revealed that he had "a wet dream" of being a part of Linkin Park and changing the band's name into Linken Park.
Bennington, who took over the driving seat, said, "This is probably the greatest day of my life." He also said that Jeong was welcomed to join the show and even joked and suggested "The Hangover" star to change his name into Ken Park to suit the band's name.
Throughout the episode, the foursome sang some classic Linkin Park hits such as "Numb", during which Jeong went crazily immersed in his emotion, "In the End" and "Talking to Myself". They also tackled songs by other artists like Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Sweet Home Alabama" and Red Hot Chili Peppers' "City of Angel".
Bennington also taught Jeong how to scringing, a scream singing. The late singer was so impressed by how good Jeong was. "He's got it. He's got it. Don't think about it, just feel it," he praised the comedian. Shinoda seemed to be enjoying the moment so much as he could be seen giggling throughout the episode.
Bennington shared that he once worked as a leaf blower. He made $4 an hour and only got paid for three and a half hours of work. When the singer was asked if he wanted his kids to pursue music, Bennington opened up, "For me, I just want my kids to find something they're passionate about."
Bennington was found dead on Thursday morning, July 20 after hanging himself at a private residence in Palos Verdes Estates in L.A. County, leaving his family, friends and fans devastated by the shocking death. "Shocked and heartbroken, but it's true. An official statement will come out as soon as we have one," Shinoda confirmed Bennington's passing on Twitter.
The Linkin Park frontman was laid to rest on Saturday, July 29 in a private funeral service at the South Coast Botanic Garden in Palos Verdes, California. A drum kit was set up on a stage for a musical tribute to Bennington.
