The daughter of Senator John McCain is tapped to join the ABC show reportedly because the show needs a stronger conservative voice.

"The View" gets a new co-host! Meghan McCain has officially signed on to join the ladies of "The View" as a regular co-host.

It comes just days after McCain's departure from Fox News. The political personality will fill in the spot left by Jedidiah Bila, who abruptly departed from the daytime talk show after a year.

Variety reports that McCain is scheduled to start in early October. The "Dirty Sexy Politics" writer will join the panel of Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sara Hainer, Paula Faris and Sunny Hostin.

While ABC refused to comment, an insider claims that the decision to tap McCain to join the show is because the ABC show needs a stronger conservative voice following Elisabeth Hasselbeck's exit back in 2013. At that time, "The View" frequently made headlines for in-show fighting between co-hosts over different political views.

As for McCain, she is conservative. The daughter of Senator John McCain describes herself as a "Blonde Republican" who takes a more liberal view on many social issues.

Recently, the 32-year-old took to her Twitter account to lash out on President Donald Trump for allegedly "physically mocking" her father, who was diagnosed with brain cancer this past summer. "What more must my family be put through right now? This is abhorrent," so she wrote on the micro-blogging site.

Over the years, "The View" has played a game of musical chairs with its co-hosts. Prior to this, Nicolle Wallace, Rosie Perez, Raven-Symone, Michelle Collins, Candace Cameron and most recently Bila departed from the show after brief stints.

Of Bila's exit, ABC said in a statement, "We want to thank Jed very much for all of her contributions and wish her great success with the next step in her career. She will always be part of 'The View' family, and we'll welcome her back to talk about her new projects."
