Francia Raisa, Selena Gomez's best friend who donated a kidney to the 25-year-old star, is hitting the gym again after the kidney transplant. The 29-year-old actress took to Instagram on Thursday, September 21 to share a video of herself lifting weights.
"Happy to be back," she wrote in the caption. Wearing a gray Under Armour sports bra, gray leggings and black cap in the video, she flaunted her abs and revealed the scars from the kidney transplant.
Selena revealed earlier this month that she underwent a secret surgery to receive a kidney transplant from her friend Francia over the summer. The former Disney darling reportedly had kidney failure in May and was rushed to the hospital when she was in Chicago to support her boyfriend The Weeknd's concert.
She shared a photo of her and Francia lying on hospital beds side-by-side while holding hands post-surgery. She also showed her scar from the kidney transplant. She wrote, "I'm very aware some of my fans had noticed I was laying low for part of the summer and questioning why I wasn't promoting my new music, which I was extremely proud of. So I found out I needed to get a kidney transplant due to my Lupus and was recovering."
"It was what I needed to do for my overall health. I honestly look forward to sharing with you, soon my journey through these past several months as I have always wanted to do with you. Until then I want to publicly thank my family and incredible team of doctors for everything they have done for me prior to and post-surgery."
She thanked her friend Francia, "And finally, there aren't words to describe how I can possibly thank my beautiful friend Francia Raisa. She gave me the ultimate gift and sacrifice by donating her kidney to me. I am incredibly blessed. I love you so much sis."
