Harrison Ford Breaks Silence on Carrie Fisher Revelation of Their Secret Affair

'It was strange. For me,' the 'Blade Runner 2049' actor shares his feelings about Fisher's memoir detailing their alleged secret affair.

AceShowbiz - Carrie Fisher dropped a bombshell when she released her memoir "The Princess Diarist" in 2016. She revealed her alleged secret affair with Harrison Ford back on the days they were filming 1977's "Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope" and when he was married to Mary Marquardt.

Now, almost a year later, Harrison Ford finally breaks silence on his alleged trysts with his "Star Wars" co-star. "It was strange. For me," he says in a new issue of GQ magazine.

Asked if he was given any advance warning about the content of the book, the 75-year-old actor says, "Um, to a degree. Yes." Keeping his answers short, the notoriously private actor refuses to talk further about his alleged affair with Fisher. "You know, with Carrie's untimely passing, I don't really feel that it's a subject that I want to discuss," he explains.

Ford, who hasn't read Fisher's memoir yet, says he doesn't care about people's reactions unless he's "with them at the time." He admits, "I expect to be criticized, and I expect to be unfairly praised. It's just part of the thing-that people will talk about you." He's not worried about his legacy, either, "because it's unnecessary." He explains, "You live and you die. The unnatural thing is that the film lives. But I don't care about that. I mean, it was good while it lasted-while I was alive. It was fine."

Fisher wrote in the book that was released before her death in December 2016, "I looked over at Harrison. A hero's face - a few strands of hair fell over his noble, slightly furrowed brow. How could you ask such a shining specimen of a man to be satisfied with the likes of me?" She claimed that Ford seduced her in Tunisia while she was drunk. She was 19 years old at the time.

When Fisher promoted the memoir, she claimed that she gave Ford a heads up about the chapter. "I wouldn't have ambushed him like that, but it's still-no matter if I told him or not, it probably feels like an ambush," she told NPR's Fresh Air host Terry Gross. "It feels like an ambush to me, and I'm the one that wrote it."

She spoke to him in person about revealing their three-month affair. "I said, 'I found the journals that I kept during the first movie, and I'm probably going to publish them. And he just sort of raised his finger and said, 'Lawyer!' " she recalled, "Then I said, 'No, I won't write anything that you don't want. I mean, I'll show it to you before and you can take anything out that you want taken out. I don't want to make you uncomfortable'-which I, of course, have. Unduly uncomfortable."
