After taking a few years off to enjoy his success and prepare a proper follow-up album, Sam Smith has finally made a triumphant comeback with a new song called "Too Good at Goodbyes". The track marks the British singer's first release since 2015's Oscar-winning "Writing's on the Wall".

Co-written by Stargate and Jimmy Napes, "Too Good at Goodbyes" is built with gospel chorus and some bob beats. Sam showcases his syrupy vocal as he rhymes, "Every time you hurt me, the less that I cry/ And every time you leave me, the quicker these tears dry/ And every time you walk out, the less I love you/ Baby, we don't stand a chance, it's sad but it's true."

In an interview with Apple Music, the singer revealed that the song was one of the most personal tracks off his new album. "This song is about me and about a relationship I was in," he said. "This album actually is not all about me. There's about four song that are about me, and the rest are about different things and different people in my life and what they've gone through."

While he didn't reveal the album title, Sam shared some details about the effort. "It was so important when I was writing this record for me to just challenge myself and be scared again," he explained, before adding that the upcoming project would be released in two versions. He also revealed that the album would include a duet and his collaboration with Timbaland.

The new album will follow up Sam's highly-acclaimed "In the Lonely Hour", which reigned on the U.K.'s music charts back in 2015. Thanks to the effort, he collected an Academy Award, a Golden Globe, three Brit Awards, three Billboard Music Awards and four Grammy Awards.

In support of "Too Good at Goodbyes", Sam has announced some intimate shows. He will perform in Los Angeles on September 11, New York on September 13, London on September 15 and Berlin on September 18. The venues will be announced in a later date.
