The show encourages those who still want to audition to attend the upcoming auditions in Shreveport and New Orleans on September 4 and 14 respectively.

AceShowbiz - In the wake of Hurricane Harvey, "American Idol" has canceled its upcoming auditions in Houston and San Antonio. The upcoming revived show announced the cancellation on Twitter on Tuesday, August 29.

It posted a picture featuring "a note about our Texas auditions" which read, "In light of Hurricane Harvey and the devastation in Texas, the 'American Idol' bus will be canceling the previously scheduled auditions in Houston on September 2 and San Antonio on September 4. The safety of the community is of the utmost importance and our thoughts go out to all of those affected."

It continued, "For anyone who would like to continue to pursue their 'Idol' dreams, we encourage you to attend the upcoming auditions in Shreveport, L.A. on September 4, and New Orleans, L.A. on September 14, or submit your audition online at americanidol.com."

Report suggests that Hurricane Harvey has killed 13 people since it made landfall on Friday, August 25 on South Texas. It has dumped 51.88 inches of rain, setting a new record for the continental U.S. The storm is the strongest one to ever make landfall in the United States since Hurricane Charley back in 2004.

Several celebrities also postponed or rescheduled their Houston-area gigs due to the storm. Coldplay and Mary J. Blige postponed their concerts in Houston, while Lady Antebellum canceled their Houston show.

"American Idol", which previously ran on FOX before getting canceled in 2016, is revived on ABC. Ryan Seacrest is set to return as the host, with Katy Perry as one of the judges on the show. The search for the second, third and possibly fourth judge is currently underway.

"American Idol" reboot will arrive sometime in 2018 on ABC.
