Fox Searchlight Pictures has released a domestic trailer for "Goodbye Christopher Robin" which tells the story of the creation of Winnie the Pooh and his pals. A. A. Milne, played by Domhnall Gleeson, is trying to work on his new book when his son Christopher Robin asks him to write a book for him.
The trailer shows how World War I affects Milne and how writing the book helps Milne cope with his post-traumatic stress following his return from the war. The video also offers a glimpse of the changes that the family faces after the success of the book.
According to the official synopsis, "Goodbye Christopher Robin" "gives a rare glimpse into the relationship between beloved children's author A. A. Milne and his son Christopher Robin (Will Tilston), whose toys inspired the magical world of Winnie the Pooh. Along with his mother Daphne (Margot Robbie), and his nanny Olive (Kelly Macdonald), Christopher Robin and his family are swept up in the international success of the books; the enchanting tales bringing hope and comfort to England after the First World War. But with the eyes of the world on Christopher Robin, what will the cost be to the family?"
Directed by Simon Curtis, the biopic will open in the U.K. on September 29, before hitting U.S. theaters starting October 13. The trailer is first released via PEOPLE.
