AceShowbiz - The first wave of Teen Choice 2017 nominations has been announced by FOX. Two of Vin Diesel's movies dominate the list, as "xXx: Return of Xander Cage" leads the pack with five nominations, including Choice Action Movie. His other movie, "The Fate of the Furious", is also up for the same prize, with "Logan", "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales", "Transformers: The Last Knight" and "Wonder Woman" among the other contenders.
Diesel is nominated for Choice Action Movie Actor for his roles in "xXx 3" and the eighth "The Fast and the Furious" movie. He is up against his "Fate of the Furious" co-star Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, as well as Brenton Thwaites ("Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales"), Chris Pine ("Wonder Woman"), Hugh Jackman ("Logan") and Johnny Depp ("Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales").
"Return of Xander Cage" scores three other nominations in Choice Action Movie Actress category. Its stars Deepika Padukone, Nina Dobrev and Ruby Rose are pitted against each other for the title, which is also vied by Gal Gadot ("Wonder Woman"), Kaya Scodelario ("Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales") and Michelle Rodriguez ("The Fate of the Furious").
Dwayne Johnson gets his second nomination for his voice role in animated movie "Moana". The Disney film is also nominated for Choice Fantasy Movie along with "Beauty and the Beast (2017)", "Doctor Strange", "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" and "Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children", while its voice cast member Auli'i Cravalho is up for Choice Fantasy Movie Actress.
"Power Rangers", "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2", "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story", "Kong: Skull Island" and "Beauty and the Beast (2017)" are among other films with multiples nominations. "Power Rangers", "GOTG Vol. 2", "Rogue One" and "Kong" are vying for Choice Sci-Fi Movie, while "Beauty and the Beast" is fighting against "Moana" for Choice Fantasy Movie.
Voting for the winners opens starting Monday, June 19 at 5 P.M. via TeenChoice.com and Twitter, and closes on Thursday, June 22 at 9:00 P.M. PT. More nominees will be announced later, prior to the star-studded event which will air live Sunday, August 13 on FOX.
