Harry Styles' much-anticipated debut solo single, "Sign of the Times", will arrive very soon. His debut as a solo artist makes fans giddy with anticipation, but many of them can't help but to compare him with Justin Timberlake. On the other hand, Harry reportedly doesn't really like to be compared to someone else.
The One Direction star seems to know exactly that being a solo artist is very different from being a part of a group. A source told HollywoodLife.com, "Harry understands fully how important the next phase of his career is going to be getting off the ground and he wants to make a splash not only for his solo career but for his fans, his label and himself."
Previously, it was reported that the young pop star wanted to be taken seriously as a musician. So, the talks about him being the next Justin Timberlake doesn't really excite him. "And he hears all the whispers of being even more of a superstar than he already is and he is not going at this time be the next Justin Timberlake. He is going into this part of his career to be the first Harry Styles. He wants to be the one people compare instead of being compared to someone else," the source added.
Harry and Justin do have similar career path, interestingly. Both of them shot to fame after joining their respective boybands. The two superstars have also decided to have a solo career. While Justin's group, NSYNC, was split in 2002, One Direction is currently on hiatus. Besides, Harry is not the first one to have a solo career in the group. Ex-member Zayn Malik and Harry's bandmate Niall Horan have been ahead of him with solo projects.
Harry is set to release "Sign of the Times" on April 7, and make his debut solo performance on "Saturday Night Live" on April 15. He is currently in Scotland, filming a video for the upcoming single.
