While fans are eagerly waiting for Kendrick Lamar's follow-up to his much-acclaimed album "To Pimp a Butterfly", the 29-year-old rapper surprises them by quietly releasing "The Heart Part 4". The fourth installment of the hip-hop star's "The Heart" series arrived on Thursday night, March 23 on Apple Music.

Kendrick shared on Instagram a cryptic photo with the Roman numeral "IV" being written on it in advance of the track's release. Produced by Terrace Martin, "The Heart Part 4" begins with lines from James Brown's "Don't Tell a Lie About Me and I Won't Tell the Truth on You", which was also used as a sample on Jay-Z and Kanye West's "Otis".

The nearly-five-minute banger, which features multiple beat switches, also finds Kendrick warning his fellow rapper, as fans believe he disses Big Sean. "My fans can't wait for me to son your punk a** and crush your whole lil s**t/ I'll Big Pun your punk a**, you a scared lil b***h/ Tiptoein' around my name, ni**a ya lame/ And when I get at you, homie, don't you tell me you was just playin," he raps on the second verse.

Elsewhere on the song, he goes after Donald Trump, rapping, "Donald Trump is a chump, know how we feel, punk/ Tell 'em that God comin'/ And Russia need a replay button, y'all up to somethin'/ Electorial votes look like memorial votes/ But America's truth ain't ignorin' the votes." Kendrick finishes the mid-tempo track by hinting that he may release his long-awaited album on April 7. "Y'all got til April the 7th to get your s**t together," he raps.

Earlier this month in an interview with The New York Times' T Magazine, K-Dot talked about his mental state for his upcoming LP. "I think now, how wayward things have gone within the past few months, my focus is ultimately going back to my community and the other communities around the world where they’re doing the groundwork," he said.
