Fans are welcoming back Shemar Moore, who will be making a return to "Criminal Minds" current season 12 finale as a guest star. Moore will once again play Derek Morgan in the finale, which is set to air on Wednesday, May 10.

According to CBS, Morgan, a former Supervisory Special Agent with the FBI's Behavioral Analysis Unit, will bring BAU a lead in the case against serial killer and escaped convict Mr. Scratch. Mr. Scratch, who has wreaked havoc on the team all seasons, managed to escape from prison last season when the team was trapped and locked in with some of the worst serial killers. Taking down the team has been his only goal.

Morgan was seen last time on the series' season 11, nearly dead after being abducted and tortured. He later decided to quit the team to focus on his wife Savannah (Rochelle Aytes) and their newborn baby.

Moore used to be the show's series regular before exiting last March after 11 seasons. The actor previously told TV Guide that he wouldn't return permanently after his departure. However, he said, "If they ask me to come back and dance, yes, I would be willing to do that." In a letter to fans, executive producer/showrunner Erica Messer explained that it was Moore's decision to leave the series as he wanted "to try new things."

Moore is currently on board for another CBS project. He is tapped to star on CBS new S.W.A.T drama pilot, which is based on 2003's Sony pic "S.W.A.T". He also serves as executive producer of the project, which is produced by Aaron Spelling and Leonard Goldberg.

Starring Joe Mantegna, Paget Brewster, Matthew Gray Gubler, A.J. Cook and Aisha Tyler, "Criminal Minds" airs Wednesdays at 9 P.M. on CBS.
