National Geographic Channel shows the first look at Geoffrey Rush as an elder Albert Einstein and Johnny Flynn as young Einstein on its first scripted series, 'Genius'.

AceShowbiz - The first look at Oscar winner Geoffrey Rush ("The King's Speech", "Pirates of Caribbean", "Shine"), who plays the older version Albert Einstein on "Genius", has been shared by National Geographic Channel. In it, Rush looks extremely smart, sporting Einstein's iconic wild gray hair and mustache.

The network also shared a look at the young Einstein, portrayed by Johnny Flynn (Clouds of Sils Maria", "Song One", "Lovesick").

"Genius" is directed by Ron Howard. It is his first time directing a scripted primetime drama. The series was created based on Walter Isaacson's book "Albert Einstein: His Life and Universe", adapted by writer Noah Pink who will also co-executive produce the series alongside showrunner Ken Biller.

"Genius" is planned to be an anthology. Throughout its 10 episodes, the series captures Einstein's journey from being a young imaginative, rebellious patent clerk who couldn't get a teaching job or doctorate, to a legendary physicist.

Geoffrey Rush and Johnny Flynn are joined in the cast by Emily Watson, Michael McElhatton, Seth Gabel, Samantha Colley, Richard Topol, Vincent Kartheiser and many others.

The production on "Genius" began in September and the series is planned to be aired on the channel in 2017, in 171 countries and 45 languages.
