During their acceptance speeches at the annual event, Shania jokes she 'doesn't want to get off the stage' while Carrie wipes away tear over a video tribute featuring her son Isaiah.

AceShowbiz - Shania Twain and Carrie Underwood were among those honored as CMT's Artists of the Year of 2016 during a ceremony held at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center in Nashville on Wednesday, October 19. During the event, Shania promised new music while Carrie got teary after watching a video tribute featuring her son Isaiah.
Shania was presented with Artist of a Lifetime trophy after a powerful tribute, featuring Jill Scott, Meghan Trainor and Kelsea Ballerini singing her biggest hits like "Man, I Feel Like a Woman".
She recalled her early days playing in bars "and some strip clubs," before saying, "I don't want to get off the stage right now because I'm loving this moment! I love music, and I hope that it carries on for many more years in my life."
On the red carpet, Shania, who last year wrapped what she called her final tour, confirmed a new album is on the way. "I have new music coming out really soon, and I'm very excited about it. There will be a new musical chapter," she told Rolling Stone Country.

Carrie, meanwhile, wiped away tears as she took the stage to accept her trophy. "Aren't we blessed? God is good - he's definitely been good to me. Oh man, I don't know why I'm getting teary eyed...I think it was seeing my little guy on the screen," she said, referring to the video tribute featuring her 19-month-old son.
Carrie performed "Like I'll Never Love You Again" along with the song's talented writers, Hillary Lindsey, Lori McKenna and Liz Rose.

Other honorees included Kelsea, Luke Bryan, Florida Georgia Line, Thomas Rhett and Chris Stapleton. The show aired on Thursday at 9 P.M. ET on CMT.
