The 'Divergent' actress thanks fans and fellow celebrities including her 'Fault in Our Stars' co-star Ansel Elgort for their overwhelming support.

AceShowbiz - Shailene Woodley has been released hours after she was detained during a live-stream North Dakota pipeline protest. The 24-year-old "Divergent" actress along with many other protesters was taken into police custody at Morton County Jail for criminal trespassing.

Many celebrities applauded Woodley for her bravery to criticize the pipeline construction built at the sacred Standing Rock Sioux land and burial grounds. Maggie Q, Mark Ruffalo and Woodley's "The Fault in Our Stars" co-star Ansel Elgort and author John Green tweeted their support.

"SHAI WAS ARRESTED TODAY for protesting the North Dakota Pipeline," Elgort wrote and attached a link to an article detailing what she was protesting. Green tweeted, "@shailenewoodley walks the walk, and I deeply admire her determined and passionate activism."

A representative for the actress responded to the overwhelming support, "She appreciates the outpouring of support, not only for her, but more importantly, for the continued fight against the construction of the Dakota Access Pipeline."
