The helmer sounds like he may give the frontman of Aerosmith a call in the near future by saying that if he 'did Vol 3', he 'would love' to work with the rocker sometime.

AceShowbiz - "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" helmer James Gunn responds to Steven Tyler's request to be a part of the next "Guardians of the Galaxy" film. While talking about his role in the upcoming "Happy Birthday" with PEOPLE on Thursday, September 8, Steven gave a shout-out to the helmer, "I would do anything to be in 'Guardians of the Galaxy 3' - are you listening James Gunn?"

James posted on Facebook on Sunday, September 11 a video of him before screening "The Belko Experiment" at the Toronto International Film Festival. The helmer sounded like he might give the frontman of Aerosmith a call in the near future by saying that he "would love" to work with the rocker sometime.

"Yes, I did hear that Steven Tyler wants to be in 'Guardians of the Galaxy'," James said. "He gave me a shout-out the other day in an interview. He said, 'James Gunn are you listening?' The answer is, Steven, yes I am listening and I'm a big fan of Steven Tyler's."

He continued, "I had the pleasure of directing his daughter [Liv Tyler] in a movie ['Super' in 2010] in which she was fantastic, and I met him for a few seconds at a screening of that movie." He added, "He's a cool guy. And of course I would love to work with Steven Tyler sometime."

Though James sounded happy to work with the former "American Idol" judge, the helmer didn't confirm whether or not they would be working together in the third "Guardians of the Galaxy" film as Marvel had yet to officially announce the third superhero movie. The helmer also tweeted, "If I did Vol 3, sure. I love @IamStevenT. Love his work & he's a very warm guy."

"The Belko Experiment", which was written and produced by James Gunn, is set for a March 17, 2017 release in U.S. theaters. The cast members include Josh Brener, Adria Arjona, Michael Rooker and Sean Gunn. Meanwhile, "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" which stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper and Dave Bautista as the titular space superheroes will follow on May 5.
