Is "Game of Thrones" adding another movie vet to its cast for the upcoming seventh season? "Murder, She Wrote" star Angela Lansbury is reported to be in discussions to appear in two episodes of the next installment, but her role is unknown.
The casting rumor was first brought into attention by German site Bild. However, the National Enquirer previously posted a similar story, citing a so-called friend who said that "Angela loves living in New York, but she said she would be willing to travel for a special TV or a film role. So 'Game of Thrones' is a perfect fit for her!"
The tabloid also said that Diana Rigg, who plays Lady Olenna Tyrell on "Game of Thrones", recommended Lansbury for a two-episode part. "She told producers, 'You've got to get Angela for this,' " so a source said.
Should Lansbury indeed star on "Game of Thrones" season 7, she will be another new addition to the cast, joining Academy Award-winning actor Jim Broadbent. The 67-year-old British actor has been cast in a "significant" role, but the details are kept under wraps.
The new season will not air until summer 2017, later than its usual spring premiere, and will only consist of seven episodes.
