Kanye will develop performance products and retail stores, creating not only footwear but also apparel and accessories with Adidas.

AceShowbiz - Kanye West and Adidas make history. They sign a new deal to expand their partnership and launch Adidas + Kanye West. It's a part of their bigger plans for Yeezy. Moving forward, the rapper's brand will feature not only footwear but also apparel and accessories for all genders.

It's a major partnership between a non-athlete and an athletic brand. "I'm not just a musician singing in front of a mic, we are running, jumping, we're getting hurt," Kanye says as quoted by Wall Street Journal. "We're in the same arenas that the ballplayers play in."

Just like Nike's partnership with Michael Jordan, Adidas + Kanye West will have its own dedicated team based on the company's Portland headquarters. Yeezy will extend beyond its current lifestyle focus by developing performance products with options for both sport and street. The expansion also includes retail stores.

Kanye released his first Adidas sneaker, the Yeezy 750 Boost, in 2015. It became a hit. With only 9,000 pairs being made, the $350 gray suede sneakers sold for thousands on eBay. The rapper followed it up with Yeezy Boost 350. It also sold out fast. He received Sneak of the Year award due to the unprecedented sales.
